Just Like Us launches new campaign: For you, for me, for all of us
For you, for me, for all of us
Imagine a school where you feel safe and accepted, regardless of who you are. A school where you can be yourself, without fear of bullying or discrimination. A school where you see people like you reflected in the curriculum, where difference is celebrated and you are valued.
This is the kind of school that Just Like Us is working to create. LGBT+ inclusive schools benefit everyone, so whether you’re LGBT+ or an ally, donating to Just Like Us helps to create a better world. For you. For me. For all of us.
Who we are
Just Like Us is the LGBT+ young people’s charity. We work with thousands of primary and secondary schools every year, to help them become more LGBT+ inclusive places where everyone can thrive. We provide training, resources and support to help schools create a culture of respect and acceptance for all young people.
Just Like Us also works with young people to give them a voice. We provide opportunities for young people to share their experiences and to be the change LGBT+ young people need. We believe that young people are the experts on their own lives, and we want to empower them to make a difference.
Why we need your help
Our research shows that LGBT+ people who weren’t supported at school and home are half as likely to be happy in early adulthood and three times more likely to not be confident they’ll have a career they enjoy.
At school, we know that LGBT+ school pupils are twice as likely to have been bullied and 91% have heard negative language about being LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans) in the past year.
The power of LGBT+ inclusive education is life-changing. Pupils whose schools provided positive messaging about being LGBT+ had reduced suicidal thoughts and feelings – regardless of whether they are LGBT+ or not.
That’s a better world for you, for me, for all of us.
How your donation will make a difference
You can be the change. You can make a positive difference to schools and LGBT+ young people.By making a donation you will:
- Provide training to schools and teachers on how to create more inclusive education environments
- Develop resources for schools and young people on LGBT+ issues
- Empower young people to become allies
Can you improve the life of an LGBT+ young person today?
Together, we can create more inclusive schools for all young people – for you, for me, for all of us.
