Rainbow Friday is a non-uniform day that happens every year during School Diversity Week to raise awareness and fundraise for Just Like Us.

It’s a chance for primary and secondary schools to open up conversations about being LGBT+ inclusive while celebrating in wonderful rainbow colours.

You could also run a Rainbow Ribbons fundraiser at your school, or get inspiration from our Fundraising pack.

What is Rainbow Friday?

Rainbow Friday is a school non-uniform day taking place during School Diversity Week (26 – 30 June) to raise money for Just Like Us.

This year, Rainbow Friday takes place on 30 June.

Staff and pupils at your school could dress up in rainbow colours or rainbow clothes.

You could even allocate a colour per year group or form, so that together you create the rainbow or Pride progress flag as a school.

We recommend asking staff and pupils to bring a voluntary donation of £1.

Please get in touch if you have any questions about sharing donations with us. You can also send us photos and updates of your school fundraiser successes – we’d love to hear from you!

If you’d like to, and have pupil permission, you could post your photos on Twitter, tagging @JustLikeUsUK and using #SchoolDiversityWeek.

What is School Diversity Week?

School Diversity Week is the UK-wide celebration of LGBT+ equality in primary and secondary schools. School staff can sign up now to take part.

As part of the event, Just Like Us provides free LGBT+ inclusive resources for EYFS to KS4.

Thousands of primary and secondary schools are signed up to take part this 26 – 30 June.

Rainbow Friday fundraisers can help Just Like Us to provide free resources during School Diversity Week and support more LGBT+ young people.
