We’re absolutely delighted that you’re joining the Just Like Us team, schools and colleges across the UK in championing lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT+) equality during School Diversity Week 2020.

We’ve created this toolkit with help from school staff across the country to make celebrating School Diversity Week as easy as possible. It includes:

Easy-to-use ideas for school-wide events
celebrating LGBT+ equality

KS1-KS4 lesson plans
covering LGBT+ issues

Subject specific lesson plans
for KS3 subjects

Extracurricular resources including key statistics,
book lists, articles, films and videos

Advice on empowering your students to
set up a Community Action Team

FAQs to help explain the
aims of the week

Template messages about your school’s
involvement for parents, staff and governors

We’ve been inspired to hear about what so many schools already have planned and we’re looking forward to hearing from many more of you. Remember: if you can’t hold School Diversity Week during 22-26 June, you can still take part by celebrating the week another time - just make sure to tell us what you have planned.

We’d love your feedback on how we can improve this toolkit and make next year’s week even more successful.

Thank you for celebrating School Diversity Week and championing LGBT+ equality at your school. LGBT+ young people repeatedly tell us what a difference it would have made if their schools had done more to support them growing up. There will be many pupils for whom this week will be a turning point, the moment when they see that being LGBT+ won’t get in the way of them having an awesome life, and that being themselves will help them realise their potential and their dreams.

Good luck and stay in touch!
