Anti-Bullying Week 2024 UK – free school resources to download
Education
Anti-Bullying Week 2024 takes place Monday 11 to Friday 15 November in the UK.
Bullying is a huge problem for LGBT+ school pupils – 43% experience bullying, compared to 21% of their straight peers. Pupils with same-sex parents also face increased levels of bullying.
Disappointingly, 78% of 9 to 11 year olds have heard others using homophobic language, according to a new school survey of 4,307 primary pupils by VotesforSchools and Just Like Us. This is even more common in secondary schools, where 80% have heard homophobic language.
It’s sadly still a common problem and undeniably impacts the long-term mental health of pupils who have same-sex parents or grow up to be LGBT+.
Just Like Us, the LGBT+ young people’s charity, has free school resources available for teachers to download on the topic.

Free Anti-Bullying Week posters, assembly and videos for primary schools
Download our free anti-bullying posters for KS1 and KS2, which include phrases such as ‘In this school, we celebrate each other’s differences‘. Others say phrases like ‘Words matter. Be kind to everyone‘, ‘Gay is not an insult‘, and ‘Spread kindness‘.
We also have ready-to-go assembly slides that are free for teachers to download. The assembly is focused on how words make us feel, the negative impact of homophobia and being kind. It’s ideal for primary pupils.
The assembly includes videos of two young people talking about their experiences of bullying and how to be kind to one another. They’re also voiced in a way that is specifically designed for primary pupils. In one video, Zaynab talks about how hearing the word ‘lesbian’ as an insult at school made her feel.
