Just Like Us, the LGBT+ young people’s charity, has released a free KS2 pronouns lesson plan for for Modern Foreign Languages (MFL).

The free, ready-to-go resource includes a presentation exploring the use of personal pronouns, possessive pronouns and reflexive pronouns. It looks at pronouns used in countries such as Sweden, Germany, France, Spain and China.

The aims of this lesson include for pupils to learn about different pronouns in different languages. Some of these include the use of gender-neutral pronouns – from “they” to “hen” – by non-binary and genderfluid people around the world.

What is School Diversity Week?

Every June, Just Like Us runs School Diversity Week: a celebration of LGBT+ equality in primary and secondary schools across the UK.

Just Like Us has created more than 50 free, LGBT+ inclusive resources so that schools can easily celebrate. These include lesson plans, worksheets, assembly ideas, story time discussions, and presentations. Plus, there is a Rainbow Friday non-uniform day to fundraise for Just Like Us.

Each year, thousands of primary and secondary schools take part, gaining free access to a range of LGBT+ inclusive resources.

Why celebrate School Diversity Week?

Independent research has found a link between positive messaging about being LGBT+ in schools to pupils reporting better mental health and wellbeing. This is regardless of whether the pupils are LGBT+ or not.

Sign up for School Diversity Week to access our wide-ranging and free LGBT+ inclusive resources. You’ll be joining thousands of other schools celebrating across the UK.
