Family Piece Ink
Family Piece Ink is an innovative, multi-faceted approach to developing strong families by empowering parents to take ownership of their child's education and future success. The "Ink" in the name comes from our belief that involved parents should write the manual for how their child is taught.
Just Like Us believes in the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child." Using this concept, we work with parents enrolled in the Family Piece Ink program to design and organize activities and programs that bring families together and expose both child and parent to new experiences.
These activities and programs facilitate positive interactions between family members and foster an environment of educational discipline. Through non-formal settings (e.g. field trips, game nights, self-help exercises), parents can experiment with different ways to contribute to the psychological, social and spiritual development of their children.
Recognizing that some program parents may be working through difficult issues from their past, Just Like Us Family Enrichment Center offers counseling programs and suitable intervention resources (i.e. parental rights and responsibilities). We also offer non-judgemental assistance regarding:
- mental health issues that place families at risk, such as substance abuse, child abuse and neglect
- family literacy development
- emergency need for food, housing, clothing and transportation
